For the topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats Provides crunch.
  • 1/2 cup almond flour For a gluten-free option use certified gluten-free almond flour.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar or coconut sugar For sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted For a rich, buttery texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Toss to coat the apples.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, almond flour, brown sugar (or coconut sugar), and melted coconut oil. Combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Assembly

  • Spread the apple mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the crumble topping generously over the apples.

Baking

  • Place the assembled crumble in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Enjoy on its own or pair with vegan ice cream or coconut cream. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
