Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup plain or panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice optional
  • Optional Add-Ins:
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions
 

  • Prep the Green Beans
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Prepare a bowl of ice water.
  • Add green beans to boiling water and cook for 3–4 minutes, until bright green and crisp-tender.
  • Transfer immediately to ice water to stop cooking.
  • Drain and pat dry thoroughly.
  • Toast the Breadcrumbs
  • Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add breadcrumbs and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently until golden brown.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly (do not burn).
  • Combine
  • Add blanched green beans to the skillet.
  • Toss gently to coat evenly in the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Season with salt and black pepper.
  • Add lemon juice if using.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan and parsley if desired.
  • Cook for 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  • Serve
  • Transfer to serving dish.
  • Serve immediately for best crunch.

Notes

  • Pat green beans dry before tossing to prevent soggy breadcrumbs.
  • Stir breadcrumbs frequently while toasting to avoid burning.
  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs.
